Bridge Gallery Walk Posters
Here are the posters our class created after their gallery walk in teams. Looks like we had some disagreement on some of the bridges.
Beam Bridge
Arch Bridge
Suspension
Beam Bridge
I loved hearing them discuss this one--there were disagreements over what type of bridge it is....It is a suspension because it has towers and cables.
Arch Bridge--again some disagreement here. It is an arch bridge because there are arches in the bridge--just underneath the bridge rather than above.

Bridge Gallery Walk
We looked at different types of bridges in small groups. We had to decide what type of bridge it was (beam, arch, or suspension) and write what we observed about the bridge that made it strong.

Inside recess......
Hello, parents:
As the temperatures get colder, we expect to spend recess time inside. We can go out if it is above freezing. When we stay inside, we have to find other fun things to do. I have some games and puzzles, but I'm sure the kids would like different things. If you have any old games (that second graders can play) with pieces and instructions that you no longer want, could you donate them to our classroom? You can just send them with your child. Thank you so much for following our blog and checking in. Also, thanks for your generosity. I know they will appreciate new games to play!
Thanks,
Mrs. Sandy

We carved a pumpkin....then wrote about it.....then counted the seeds.
We carved our own pumpkin, then wrote a how to story about it. Last we counted the seeds. We estimated how many there were. Our estimations were 50, 100, 150, 6,000 and 60,000. We also discussed what a reasonable estimation for the seeds would be. We eliminated 6,000 and 60,000. Last, we wrote our how to story explaining the steps we went through in our carving.
Vocabulary Parade
The Vocabulary Parade was so much fun today! The Lakeside Junior High Band played for us in the cafeteria. It was great to see everyone's creativity with their words. Here are some photos from the day.
